Hi everyone

I have four things down pat now and they are:

Cutting Squares
Running Stitch
Beginning Knot and than Back Stitch
Ending my Thread & Knot

Now I need to practice more on my Triangles and get them down pat.

I never could get my triangles right until I bought a ruler called triangle square up. Now I can make perfect half square triangles. I found the ruler at my LQS. Elenor Burns uses the ruler in her "Underground Railroad" quilt book. Amazing little ruler!!!

here is the link to it http://www.quiltknit.com/RU295-TRIAN...AY_p_2519.html

Thank you all so very much...I looked at that website and I think I'm going to order that ruler...I could use that as well myself. Thanks for that website link.

You Go Girl!!! :)

The only issue I have in doing triangles, is making sure I watch those darn seam allowances. lol!!!
I don't use a special ruler either.
:)

beginnerquilter 01-16-2010 03:36 PM

Thank you for your comment and what you said about the Triangles.

I did cut out a few triangles just to practice cutting them out and than sewing them and I didn't think I did too bad of a job either.

:)

Congratulations on your practice and patience. You didn't list an accurate seam allowance. Get that conquered and your triangles will become easy-breezy! Good luck. Keep practicing.

beginnerquilter 01-16-2010 04:02 PM

On my Practice Squares I've been doing a 1/4 inch seam allowance.

:)

wvdek 01-16-2010 06:09 PM

Cogratulations! One step at a time will get you there alot easier than some of us who jump in with both feet.

beginnerquilter 01-16-2010 07:14 PM

Thank you...yeah I take my long ruler that has a 1/4 inch seam marking on it and I mark the back of my squares which is 1/4 inch seam and than I do my running stitch right on that seam line.

:D
