Corn starch. Rub in, let set, brush off or vacume. Repeat if necessary.

Yes, corn start is the way to go. If you can let it sit over night, it's even better. Just pour a little bit on the quilt, then go put your feet up and relax! By morning, you'll be all set to remove the excess.

I got oil on a white quilt once and after I was done and getting ready to wash it I spot checked it with Dawn dish soap!

That recently happened to a baby quilt that I was quilting for a friend. This quilt was a top that her mother had pieced over 30 years ago...Yikes. (The quilt is going to be a gift from the 92 year old grandmother to her granddaughter that is due with her first baby.) But, the oil came from a generic walking foot that I had recently bought. It left an oil track all long the seam as I was sewing. I had some Dawn dish washing liquid that had Oxyclean in it. I put just a little dab on a white cloth with lots of water, and it lightly washed the area. At first, I didn't think it was coming out, but I came back 15 minutes later & it was completely gone. This was on light or white areas. I might be scared to use it on dark fabrics. Good luck!

If you are going to wash it rub some dish soap on it then wash I think Dawn works the best
