I Have a Walking Foot
 

Actually I have two. (rim shot) But seriously....

I have heard others speaking of needing a walking foot for this or that, and I just looked in my owner's manual for my Brother SQ9000 and it is listed and I have it. That thing looks more complicated than the rest of the machine. (smile). I will have to play with that and see if it will make a difference when I want to do a project in the quilt-as-you-go method.

There are other things listed as well. I've got feet for everything. I must move out of my comfort zone and practice with some of these.

I made baby quilts and lap quilts for years and ended up tying them because the back would pucker when trying to stitch in the ditch without a walking foot. Once I invested in one, I couldn't believe the difference! It's worth every penny!

Practice a little and you will likely be very pleased too!

I only started using a walking foot recently. I like the way that it moves the sandwiched quilt more freely. I use it all the time for binding.

I think you will find the walking foot helpful.

I think you will like your walking foot - I sure like mine. The quilt sandwich doesn't shift when you are stitching so it makes things look a lot better. It is a little more complicated to put on - be sure the forked section goes over the screw so the foot lifts as you sew.

I love the walking foot and could not get along without it. It really makes a difference.

I made my first two quilts without a walking foot. It sure made a difference when I got one!! :) I also like my SID foot. Lots of good feet out there.

It takes longer to fit on the machine than learn to use. Once it starts going whoooo.oh look at the hole where the needle goes down, if it is a single hole hard luck, if it is a large slit well done you can do all those fance stitches on the machine using a walking foot..

The walking foot is great for binding also,no shifting of layers.
