If seeing patterns in everything around me is an illness, I sure hope there is NO cure for it. Other than the fabric/quilt shop my favortie place to shop is Lowe's/Home Depot. I can get lost in the tile department for hours looking at the patterns and thinking to myself, now that would be a great quilt pattern.
Just glad I am not the only one that has this illness.

Since I started quilting, I check out bathroom floors, tile work, etc. for designs. Even DH has started to see things differently. He will on occasion point something out to me.

My worst moments are when I go up to the men in church wearing a tie and tell them it would look great in a quilt. We even bought a tie for a $1 in a thrift store the other day because I said it would be great in a quilt. I washed it and it is ready to go.

Have you ever found yourself staring at the tiled floor and think thats a great pattern.Ya been there worked in a shop that had a lot of metal in it, but what I really fell in love with was the greeny blue of some of the screws :-D

no cure needed ... talk your co-workers into a piece of that sheetmetal you like, put a wood frame around it (like a picture frame) and use it as magnetic board. Hang it in your sewing room, use magnets to hold notes, pieces of fabric to it, etc.

Do you have designs etched into the retaining walls on the freeways where you live? We do. It can be a problem...
Have you ever looked at the swirls in someone's curly hair. Look closely, it's a quilting design!

I, too, see quilt patterns everywhere. Several years ago I was on a very special pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Alabama. As I walked into that awesome church, the first glimpse of all the gold and that spectacular view of the Blessed Sacrament in the huge monstrance was breathtaking. When I finally sat, I spotted the "quilt patterns" in the marble floors. My first thought was "make a sketch" and put in details later. I still plan on making at least one quilt block using some of the colors that are in the floor. Each time I watch the Sunday evening Benediction, I wait for the overhead shots that show the "quilt blocks" in the floor.

Like we say out here in Texas, I ain't just got the disease, I'm plum ate up with it! Yep, that about covers it!

I'm glad to see that there is some else out there that sees things and think that it would make a beautiful quilt.
