I ran up to Joann's to see what they had for purple fabric on clearance. The Joann's by me has a Husqvarna Viking dealer inside the store. They had there longarm machine up and they gave me a demo.

Talk about a nice machine! It's on sale for only $12,000! I'm taking up a collection!

Jim's Gem 10-10-2009 10:11 AM

Oh..... I would love one of those for Christmas too!!!!
I have been talking to DH for several years about getting one. It will be a while yet, we need a new car first!!!
I may have to wait until one of our parents pass (which I hope is not soon) before I can afford to by a long arm.

BellaBoo 10-10-2009 10:22 AM

Oh, I hope Santa brings one to you!

Mamagus 10-10-2009 01:20 PM

I have been thinking this for awhile and I am going to say it now. Do those machines really have to be so expensive. Geez I could buy a small car for the price of one of them!
Does it have everything you need? Stitch regulator, quilting frame and patterns to follow too? Or is all that extra?

I really would like at quality long arm machine but that is the price of a swimming pool or 6 trips down south for hubby and me... geewillikers!

harrishwhippets 10-10-2009 02:11 PM

Are you still looking for purples??? I did buy a yard and a half at Joann's yesterday and I might have some more if you still are needing some. This is a white with a dark lavendar curly-cue on it.

harrishwhippets 10-10-2009 02:12 PM

Oh yeah!! Really hope Santa comes through.

showmequilter 10-10-2009 02:12 PM

I'm Just a dreamer,,,,,,,someday!!!!

crkathleen 10-10-2009 04:26 PM

Mamagus,
Everything was included, the frame, stitch regulator plus Q-bot. (It uses a SD card. I think it comes with 75 patterns and you were able to design your own and put it on the SD card.)
The lady was telling me that I should buy it and open my own business! haha (I wish)

littlehud 10-10-2009 05:42 PM

That would be a wonderful Christmas present. I would like one too please.

Pzazz 10-10-2009 05:48 PM

It really would be a wonderful Christmas gift. And don't pooh pooh the business idea too quickly. In my area, there are more "piecers" than there are "quilters", so anyone with a longarm can be as busy as they wish. And as you know, it is rather dear to have someone else do your quilting for you.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 10-10-2009 08:48 PM

Even if I won the lottery I could never spend that kind of money on a quilting machine. My husband would have a heart attack on the spot, so I'd have to factor in the cost of his medical bills. That machine would cost me $100,000 by the time it were all said and done.

crkathleen 10-10-2009 10:08 PM

They lady said that they could put it on a payment plan for me. haha

harrishwhippets 10-11-2009 02:44 AM

Sure would be nice to even have enough room for something like that in my sewing room.

Hey you could get a 09 midsize car for that.

thismomquilts 10-12-2009 09:21 PM

I, too, have been wanting a quilting machine for several years... maybe some day - the business end of it - well, quilts don't seem to be all the rage here as they are elswhere -

amma 10-12-2009 11:08 PM

I truly hope that Santa finds a way to bring you that gift!!! My embroidery machine cost 1/3 of what my first car cost me LMBO I can't imagine paying $12,000 for a machine...but IF you could get a business started  8) 8)

Quilt4u 10-13-2009 01:16 AM

Wow!!!! Now if I only had the room . Never mind Christmas I would put it on layaway right away. So no one would tall me out of it.

STAR 10-13-2009 03:21 AM

That is the cost of my truck!!!! payment plan for how long, by the time you get it out it would be out dated!! LOL unless you have that kind of money  well I will send you a buck to get started

reneebobby 10-13-2009 04:24 AM

lmao that is way to funny.

kat112000 10-13-2009 06:11 AM

I bought my self a smaller version. I got the inspria quilt frame and the Mega quilter machine from Husqvarna. It is WAY bigger than I thought and had to do some rearranging to get it set up!!! I still haven't used it yet. I have had it for two months now. Been set up for one month. It was $5000, but I have saved for sometime to get it.

crkathleen 10-13-2009 06:30 AM

Kat, They also had the mega quilter there. They wanted 4 grand for it but it didn't come with the frame (nor q-bot). It looked like it had a descent sized throat space. When it's hooked up the frame how big is your sewing area?
Star, I appreicate your buck. but I would have to find 11,999 more friends to get it!

Tensi 10-13-2009 08:44 AM

WOW! What a great Christmas gift that would be. I know there is a big demand for that type of quilting. There is usually a long wait to get a quiltop quilted. I have a friend who quilts quite a bit and has had a couple of quilts done and she has had to wait quite a bit. She lives in San Francisco and still had to wait. You might think about doing it for $. Fons and Porter claim it can pay for itself and I agree!

I would love to get the Bernina 830, their latest gem. It also costs $12,000. and unless I were win the Lotto, I don't see one in my future...

Good luck in getting and ejoying yours!

Tensi

DA Mayer 10-13-2009 09:24 AM

I have an older version of the Mega quilter and inspira frame. Does your dealer take trade ins? I would love the newer machine and frame. Mine will only let me quilt about 6 inches at a time. Would love the new one.

crkathleen 10-13-2009 09:57 AM

Denise, I did see a sign that said they take trade-ins, and it was up to several thousand dollars. It's at the Joanne's in Bloomindale, Il on Army Trail Road. I hope your able to get yourself a new toy!

Quilter2B 10-13-2009 05:27 PM

wow - that's more than my six year old car costs! If you'd settle for a Tin Lizzie you could also check eBay!
