I call those "light bulb" moments when I realize how I am making the same mistake repeatedly. It feels so good when I finally figure it out. And sometimes that takes a while for me.

Just becareful when you put them away with starch .it attracts bugs unless you wash your quilts when you are done quilting

I can't believe the difference starching makes in cutting and piecing. Difference between night and day

I starch and it really has helped in matching seams.

I starched my pieces and then retrimmed to the correct size and my blocks look much better.

now only 15 more to go! Phew...and it takes about 1/2 hour per block. So far this is the hardest quilt I've made.

Just be aware that water bugs (not sure this is the right name tiny little pointy tailed bugs you see in bathrooms sometimes.) go after starched fabric, and so will moths go after sizing, so when your quilt is done do wash it gently to get the stuff out before you put it away.

Silverfish. Ugh. I hate them. :(

I use Best Press starch and it makes the final quilt top so neat and pretty. ALso helps keep the blocks squared.

Careful pressing and starching certainly does make a difference. Each quilt I make has me learning something new (as well as regularly dropping by here!). Have fun with your project and don't forget we love pics!

We all make mistakes and learn from them. It will get better with practice. You are on your way.

I sometimes have a hard time cutting evenly, no matter how much I measure the fabric and check the measurements. I'm going to try starching the fabric to give it some body. Thanks for your tip. I'd love to see your quilt when its done. Grandmaang
