I love back to school sales!

At Walmart today for prescriptions, so had some time for shopping. The "Back to School" displays are out already, so I found CraZart washable markers 10 for $.50 (bought 2 packs)....Elmers washable glue sticks 2-pack for $.50 (bought 2 packs)....found 1 yard of black and yellow zebra print clearance fabric $2.00....and then 3 zippers....spent less than $10! I love shopping at Walmart.

I do too. My downfall is shopping there on line. They carry so much more sewing stuff on line than they do in the stores. Pellon products by the bolt are a fantastic deal on line. Quilt batting, garment and embroidery stabilizers, etc.. all for quite a bit less than even using coupons at JoAnns.

I do grab the Walmart back to school specials but no displays here yet. All my Walmart has are the darn pre-cuts!

I buy the large plastic school project boxes. 12 squares fit in them with room to spare. I think the name brand is Optical. There is never very many on the shelf so they sell out fast. I don't think they are bought for children. LOL

What size are the boxes?

I get the 12"x12" scrapbook project boxes when they're on sale at Michael's (3/$10.00). I have 9 so far. I like the clear ones best. I can see what's in them at a quick glance!

They work great as a light box also. I was wrong the actual size is 14 1/2"x 14 1/2".

oops it's Options Craft box. It is 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 square and about 4 inches deep. Last year they were $3.98 each. Larger sizes were in the craft dept. but not considered school supplies.

Since my daughter is a teacher of 5th grade, she does the Back to School specials and I go with her. She buys the composition books, the spiral note books, erasers, pens, pencils, high lighters, white board markers, crayons, regular markers, and glue for all her students. Then asks for a $7.00 per student donation. The parents love it - most say they easily spend 2 to 3 times that when they but them - this way all the students start out with everything they need. The school does supply the lined paper - but little else. I go along because I have always loved back to school shopping - I even miss the back to school clothes shopping.
