I love the excitement of a new pattern. Have a few questions about Marilyn Foreman???

for several months featured in a few quilt sale booklets and it really caught my eye. I have a ton of rainbow colored batiks from my Omigosh quilt so this would be perfect. I finally purchased the pattern and it is written with such thoroughness that amazes me. She gives every conceivable direction possible (including pressing-thank you). She gives directions for 6 different sizes and fabric requirements if you are using strips, fat quarters or yardage. There are 4 different completed quilts in color using different types of fabrics plus there are black and white images of several other layouts and styles to try. It truly is amazing. There is an example using Moda's Papilion fabrics which I also have a huge stack of that I wasn't sure how I was going to use.

My question is, are her other patterns like this? She has a similar patterned called Entwined that I'd like to get as well. It is similar but different enough that I can't quite figure out how she makes the blocks. Her patterns can be seen here: http://www.quiltmoments.com/Home_Page.php

I have looked at both patterns and in the Ribbon Ring pattern it looks like the blocks have 3 corners to make it look circular. In the Entwined pattern she has the same blocks, but she added one block with no curved side. Hope you can understand this.

I just received a couple of her twister patterns, they seem to also be very well done!

Looked at her website...a lot of great patterns I really like...so I made a wish list...maybe when I get my tax money back I can place an order.

I have just finished looking at them all. The only problem I find with them is trying to choose one or two. They are so beautiful I would love to have them all. Be sure to show us yours when it is finished.

I love the twister quilts she has made. The colors and designs are so nice. I think to make those though, you just lay out your squares in the same configuration as how you want the twister wheels to end up. So, for an around the world look that she has, you just lay out and sew your squares in the same formation. I am not sure what more there is to it?? Maybe I am over simplifying it?

You were wise to buy the pattern. I tried something similar to that block by winging it, and it gave me more than a few more gray hairs. I look forward to seeing your quilt!

Angelina- I bet if you contact her via email or phone, she could certainly give you some insight as to whether all of her patterns are this detailed/thorough. (She's on Facebook.)

I should think it's very similar to clothing patterns in that certain ones ARE easier to understand for some individuals. For example, an easy Simplicity brand pattern for me was VERY difficult to understand, but McCall's instructions and pattern markings were much easier.

BTW, that's a great pattern; look how different it looks rendered with a diff't color background in the pic! Will look forward to your pics!
