I love this mat I am putting this on my wish list! Do you think it works well ?

BellaBoo 01-17-2012 05:18 AM

I have used one and it works great. Someone at guild said nylon net worked the same. It doesn't. Someone said plastic canvas worked the same. It doesn't. Just buy the mat! LOL

dlong 01-17-2012 05:45 AM

Can you wash the pattern off and reuse it?

You've answered my question in one! I have tons of plastic canvas - so I will be on the hunt for this product.Usually have to go to one of the bigger cities for special stuff, so this will give me an excuse to make the trip. Many thanks for the info.

a very interesting product!!! what would you use to draw the pattern, though?

pinkberrykay 01-17-2012 06:04 AM

Now that I understand what it is :o It seems like a great idea, especially for FMQ designs.

Looks pretty neat!

Tartan 01-17-2012 09:23 AM

It does look neat but I would want to know if you can remove the lines on the mesh also. I can see using it over and over on a quilt but after that quilt is done, I would want to use a different design on another quilt. Would you then have to buy another mesh?

Have to keep this mind. Really a great idea.

I checked online at several places. Description said if you use a washable pen it can be wiped clean and reused. A pencil can be used on the matte side and I'm assuming it probably could be erased with a soft eraser. May have to buy some to try. Cost was between 6.00 and 10.00 for a 12x16 sheet.

I have it and I love it! I used a #2 pencil and after I finished I used a pink pearl eraser....all clean and good to go again!

If anyone does order this would you keep the rest of us informed. Looks interesting. I kind of curious.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like this product is a good buy.

I bought a roll of tulle about 8 inches wide. I trace the design with a regular sharpie. I then pin the tulle strip wherever I want to put a design. Use a washable marking pencil and sponge it off after you have stitched it. And usually you can get the tulle on sale or even clearance at Hobby Lobby.

Be careful of Clotilda's shipping fees! They're high.

judord 01-19-2012 02:53 PM

Wow, that is a cool idea! I think I need one also. lol

Hee Hee! Thanks for reminding me that I bought this years ago and never used it. DAH!

pippi65 01-19-2012 09:35 PM

This stuff works great...they used to have it at JoAnn's. Try there first maybe use a coupon.

oldbalt99 01-19-2012 09:40 PM

Thanks for the information. I'm going to do some machine quilting and that answer's my question on how to put the design onto the material.

nstitches4u 01-20-2012 12:42 PM

I have had one for years. It works well. You need to use a wash-away marker.

angelahen 01-20-2012 01:16 PM

This is cool. Also good to know that other things don't work. You would think they would.
