For years I was a very frustrated ppiecer using reg printer paper, so I though I would give this tissue paper a try, I thought it would ruin my printer, well guess what it works great.
I can see a big quilt in the future! :wink:

I really like it too, haven't tried the tissue paper...I didn't think it would feed through my printer :?

How do you run tissue paper through your printer? Is this special tissue that you find at Joann's or Hancock's?

The tissue I used was given to me by a teacher it is thin but does not rip.
As to what I`m working on I just did 2 hearts as a test.

My LQS is doing a paper pieced medallion quilt for their BOM starting in May. I'm really looking forward to learning this method

I love PP too, it takes a time to get into but once you get it your hooked.

I used regular printer paper to do a test of a mariner's star block. Then I got the paper piecing paper from Carol Doak and what a difference. It's thin paper, not quite tissue, but it holds up well and goes through the printer just fine. The regular paper one is so thick and bulky by comparison that I think I will do that first test one over on the thin stuff.

I also got some "paper" that feels and looks more like an interfacing at JoAnn's. I like it much better than the thin stuff, it has a stiffness to it, but it is expensive.

I'll have to try the tissue paper. Is it the gift bag filler paper?


The cheap children's scribble pads made from recycled newsprint works good for me. It feeds though my ink jet printer with no problems and is so easy to tear from the seams. It's dirt cheap too. Also if you can find it, tracing paper is excellent.
One thing I do to make the copier paper tear easier is to run a tracing wheel (I bet you have one in your sewing drawer not used in years) down the seam.
Also one great tip I found, the removable tape is the great for repairing a ripped pp pattern, the needle sews through it clean, no sticky residue.

i used the carol doakes and liked it but i would like to try the children's pads. have you ever tried the big newsprint paper? does anyone know how to cut those to size? i read that they're very good and way less expensive.

Oh, I love paper piecing;about the only way this girl gets anywhere near being close to accuracy (notice I did NOT say m,y goal was perfection).

The San Juan Forest quilt that I recently posted was paper pieced.

I, too, use the Carol Doak paper and like it very much.
