I may have lost my mind...But it sure is fun!!

I have been looking at Quilt machines for a long time. I was interested when someone here mentioned the new Babylock Tiara. A 16 inch long arm quilting machine--a sit down. I downloaded the brochure and loved the fact that it came with its own table. I'll never be able to afford a stand up unit and will never have the space for one. I asked my dealer about it and he Said he would have one in for the local show. Well..... The show was this weekend. He had one and I tried it and fell in love. Then I went a step further and bought it using the show discount. My DH wasn't even mad!!! He knows I will use it!! No buyers remorse for me!! I may start out with jut stripling but I'll learn. My niece is going to have lots of doll quits while I'm learning!! :) :)

Sounds like you are going to have a great time with your new machine.

erstan947 09-22-2012 04:13 PM

Color me GREEN! Way to go. If I get one it will have to be this kind of set up. We want to see a pic when you get her up and running:)

AlienQuilter 09-22-2012 04:15 PM

I'm green also! Have fun and post pictures!

I got inspired with what you said, googled the machine & just didn't come up with what I was looking for. However this sounds like something that would work for me. Enjoy the machine.

Here's the link. I am just a consumer. I don't work for them or anyone who does. I'm getting ready to have time to use this so I bought it. A little expensive but I ve been saving for it.

lynnie 09-22-2012 06:52 PM

Im green also, very green. Congrats to you!!!!

AngelinaMaria 09-22-2012 07:31 PM

Can you give an idea of what the cost was? Not sure how much something like this would cost and would like to have it in my mind to consider.

BETTY62 09-22-2012 07:34 PM

You go girl!

I think they are priced around $6500,00. I bought for show price of $4400.00 with delivery and setup included. I'm sure there are cheaper machines but this dealer is close, and does all servicing on machine!! This one plus my embroidery and regular machine!! Will also give me full price on trade-in if I move into higher model!

Looks like a great machine and set -up. The price seems reasonable for that package which includes the stitch regulator.

If you look at the link it says stitch requlator and also the table overlay are optional so they'd normally cost extra unless there was a special going on. It's still a great price and the type of machine that I'll need with my back disease.

AngelinaMaria 09-23-2012 08:44 AM

Bamagal, that sounds like a wonderful price. Did that include the table and stitch regulator? If so, that is incredible!! You will have so much fun.

Included the table but not the stitch regulator. I'm saving for that and the extension table. Shouldn't be too long before I have it. While regulator was nice I didn't really need it.. Flowed really well without it. I liked the space on the table but think the extension will be nice to have. Right now itt will fill my small place nicely,

AngelinaMaria 09-23-2012 10:17 AM

I am unclear about what a stitch regulator does? Can you explain that? With FMQ, I always thought that the stitches would come out dependent upon how quickly you moved the fabric. How does the regulator change that? Thanks.

As I understand it you can set the stitch length then it stays the same no matter how fast or slow you move. It was a little sluggish but you get used it. I think it might be more suited for a beginner than a pro. I felt like I had more control over where I went. May have been the lower speed though.

CONGRATULATIONS! Sounds like a great investment that you'll enjoy. Have fun!

wolph33 09-23-2012 01:53 PM

I am happy for you-you will have a blast quilting with it.

BarbaraA 09-23-2012 04:47 PM

Congratulations and good for you! I am jeoulous. I didn't know about this model!

AngelinaMaria 09-23-2012 04:54 PM

Have you had a chance to play around with it yet? I have a Babylock Espire (the newer version) and have been unhappy about the quality of the stiches. They look "sloppy" --not in a straight line, some stitches tilting out at an angle and the back stitches change in quality every few inches it seems. I haven't done any quilting on it because of this and don't think I will. I had really high hopes for Babylock and maybe this is just a "bad" machine??

patski 09-23-2012 04:55 PM

I have the sweet 16 sit down, I find the craftsy classes helpful and of course practice practice practice

blahel 09-23-2012 08:52 PM

firstly congratulations on purchasing your new machine. I have played with a sweet 16 at a show and loved it and your machine looks almost identical to a sweet 16! Hope you have lots of fun!

jitkaau 09-24-2012 02:37 AM

Here's strength to your arm. Enjoy.

marymay 09-24-2012 02:57 AM

rj.neihart 09-24-2012 05:48 AM

I just watched this video and I think I am in love! A bit pricey for me, but who knows what miracle may come?

pinkcastle 09-24-2012 05:52 AM

Oh, wow! Congratulations! Please let us know how it works for you once you get it.

maviskw 09-24-2012 06:42 AM

So glad you are happy with your new toy. But I think your niece need only a few doll blankets. Perhaps you can graduate to baby blankets and lap robes for charity before long. As you can see, I am a very practical person. LOL

oldtnquiltinglady 09-24-2012 06:53 AM

I see you are in Alabama, where was the show? Was it advertised out of your area at all--I have been trying to catch a show for a couple of months now, and Alabama would have been great for my timing and a road trip.....

My time 09-24-2012 07:02 AM

Good for you this looks like so much fun! This mat seem like a dumb question, but can you machine piece with this machine as well or is it for FMQ? Look forward to seeing some pictures!

fayeberry 09-24-2012 09:40 AM

wow, that is nice. Enjoy!

sewbeadit 09-24-2012 09:48 AM

Congratulations on your new machine! Sounds like you are going to love it.

oldquilter 09-24-2012 10:36 AM

Yea for you. Way to go, and of course you'll use it. Have fun.

KLO 09-24-2012 01:04 PM

I just saw that same machine demonstrated at my local quilt show (Greensboro, NC.) this past Friday. Couldn't take my eyes off it. They had a special deal on it too but not as good as the one you got. Yep, I am green with envy also. Enjoy!

roserips 09-24-2012 03:46 PM

Ditto, Ditto I am so GREEN the only way I will ever have a designated machine for quilting is a sit down model. I keep praying that some way I will get one since I guarantee it would get used a lot. Enjoy and have fun learning and quilting.

LadyElisabeth 09-24-2012 03:58 PM

Thanks for sharing the price. I couldn't find the price on the web site.

caspharm 09-24-2012 04:38 PM
