I started today putting the horses on dd's quilt. I decided to machine applique them and got out the heat bond....never even looked at the package. I put all three horses and the barn on and then started trying to sew. I used the wrong stuff! This was what I had bought to fix the knees of dh's jeans! Its not to be sewn on! What can I do? I can only take a few stitches before it gums up the needle and breaks the thread.

I don't have an answer for you but......oh, I am so sorry! Big hugs your way!

some of that stuff will pull off gently if you heat it up. Here is a link on doing that

well that gives me hope! I have enough material to redo the horses and the barn but first I will have to get these off and go get the right stuff. I'm just SO annoyed with myself!

Awww, bless your heart. Take a deep breath and give yourself some relief. Being human can be a kick in the pants. But, you'll be alright with the encouragement of these wonderful people on this board....and their expert advice is remarkable.
Blessings, Ruth |
oh no, that is awful, I hope you get it off, let us know how you are coming along with it

forgot to say....change paper after each blot so you don't end up putting more glue down in other places....

My heart goes out to you. Keep us posted.

Bummer... Think have dome somthing similar, but w/sticky back velcro what a mess. sew/pull off yucky/ repeat, next time made sure to get the sew kind.
Good Luck !!! :) |
okay they came off! Most of them easily with the iron. The worst part was the one I had tried to sew on. The stitches were a mess and it took me awhile. But I made a run to the store and got what I needed and now tomorrow morning I"m ready to start all over. Thank you all SEW much for the help! I can take loosing a day's worth of work since I can start over. If I had messed up the center piece though I would've been crying as I have no more of that fabric! And i learned an important lesson ...not all heat bond stuff is the same!
