...because I just received ANOTHER hand-made quilt from an older relative! That's two now. It's a quilt that has lots and lots of different blocks and the blocks are labeled with the name. I will take pictures of it soon. There's just something about the quilts from my great grandmother and now great aunt that give me chills.

Ooh, how fortunate for you!!!!

That's so cool! It's the history behind them, the story, that makes them so special. All the love gone into it makes it so much more.

Wow!!! You are very lucky. Love to see them.

What a wonderful blessing for you!!! :-)

Oh, they really are treasures, aren't they. I agree with Blue -- for me, it's the history, the love that goes into making a quilt, and part of the past that's here now. I hope to be able to do the same for my children and my children's children.

Can't wait to see the pictures!

How lovely for you, I wish I had something like that, made by my grandmother. I look forward to seeing the pics soon.

What a nice gift! Now on a more serious note......Can you pick out some winning lottery numbers for this Friday's MegaMillions jackpot? I'd like to be able to retire someday. :D

Lucky you. I can't wait to see them. I love those old quilts.

I know how you feel. My brother, gave me one that my little gma made.
He gave it to me, oh, about three months ago. She was probably in her eighties, and not seeing or getting around too well, but it is a treasure to me. :D

MadQuilter 06-17-2009 07:50 PM

That means that they know the quilts go to a good home and to someone who appreciates their value. Congrats.

You ARE lucky. When I was growing up we had one quilt in our house. It was a little lap quilt my sis and I played with. It got used and washed so much that it wore out. My relatives are going to have a field day when I am gone. I can see them fighting over them now..........
