Newbie here...I need to know how you all prepare your quilts for quilting or tying. How do you stretch them and such? I have a condition where I cannot get down on the floor like I read some of you doing to sandwich your project.

Some quilt shops and/or churches will sometimes let you use their tables for this purpose. You might check around. I have friends that even use their local library tables. I am sure there is a place that will work and you won't need to be on the floor (smile).

i taped mine to the wall spray basted it, and flattened it ,then to be sure i rolled that puppy with my rolling pin worked great for me

I use Sharon Schamber's method. Search her name on you tube and you'll find it.

I spray baste mine together with 505 spray.

I go the the church and push tables together and use them. I don't like getting down on the floor either.

I hang mine from the ceiling away from the my wall so that I can get infront and behind the quilt. Makes it easier for me I have bad knees and getting down on the floor isn't an option for me either.

Our local quilt guild has a frame similar to this. The backing can be attached to the frame, batting and top placed on top. Then it can be pinned or basted while standing.

i use a folding table. binding clips or other type of clips hold the quilt layers steady, i baste the center, than move the quilt and reclip and baste the rest. no floor for me either.
actually i use fusible batting or spray basting now.

That's the only method I use now :D

Many people use their dining room table or cutting table and just tape it down with painters or masking tape. Taut--not stretched. If it's a bigger quilt, start with the center--get it basted well, then pull up the tape and move to a different area, tape down again & baste.
