Jim gave me Leisure Arts Presents Quilter's Complete Guide by Fonz and Porter a few years back. It has helped me many times.

The Quilter's Academy books by Harriet and Carrie Hargrave.

I third agree with this choice. Just one book? Pick this.:)

I don't think there is a single book that has everything, but The Art of Classic Quiltmaking by Harriet Hargrave and Sharyn Craig comes close. Quilting techniques are continuously evolving though, as shown by the recent use of Elmer's glue for just about everything. http://www.amazon.com/Art-Classic-Qu...ic+quiltmaking

I second better homes. It has been my most used book. I always refer to it and it is pretty in depth for most categories an all around good book. spiral bind it so it lays flat

I also recommend the Better Homes & Gardens Guide to Quilting and The Quilter's Catalog has extensive information on many areas of quilting. My sister loves her Quilter's Bible.

Besides a book I would say search out videos . Some fantastic ones and some funny ones. Have a look at them .

My "go to" is Better Homes and Gardens Complete Guide to Quilting, supplemented by Quilters Academy Vol. 1 - Freshman Year.
I am also a new quilter, so both these books are very helpful with plenty of pictures. |
I vote for Craftsy classes. You have the best quilting instructors from beginner to advanced 24/7.
|
The Quilters Bible by Linda Clements is also very good.
