I Need a Clue
Ok quilters, i have a Husqvarna Viking machine with a 16 inch throat that i bought in a sit down table. I would like to put in in a frame now and i can not figure out what frame it will fit. It's not a sweet 16. How do i go about this task?

You could try contacting The Grace Company - they make many different size frames and could likely help with what one will fit. The info might even be on their website? Good luck!

It would probably fit a Hinterberg stretch frame. I have a Voyager 16 (16" throat) and that is the frame it is on. It's a wood frame but strong enough to handle the 60 lb weight of the Voyager.
Edit: Here's a link to the Hinterberg stretch frame: http://www.hinterberg.com/stretchframe.aspx Maybe call them before ordering. |
I thought Hinterberg quit making those?
eta: They have quit making them, but are selling used frames. |
Yes, I noticed that after I posted.

Not familiar with the machine, but can you use it like a longarm on a frame? I was led to believe a sit-down could not be made into a 'stand-up' quilter. I thought to make my Tin Lizzie into a sit-down affair, only to be told it couldn't be used with a foot pedal. Will be keen to see any comments on this.

I went from the 9" Viking MegaQuilter to a stretched 18" Juki using the same quilt frame, a Grace Pro 10'. Worked just fine for both machines.

I checked it out

They aren't made anymore but refurbished ones are available. The price is great and I am seriously considering this one.

Where are you located, I have a Hinterberg frame. I upgraded to a metal frame for my LA.

Viking makes a long arm frame. I don't know if it would work for your machine, but your dealer should be able to help you. http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/en-US...uilt-Pro-Frame

If you decide on Hinterberg, you should probably give them a call first. For the stretch frame, there were two upgrades I know of. One was an upgrade to the carriage, I think to allow for the Voyager to use a stitch regulator; I'm not sure if that carriage would be necessary for your machine. The other upgrade was, I think, the addition of a center post to the frame to keep it from distorting when quilting large quilts.
