And if she wanted an underwater look, I would use only the solid blues for the fill-in pieces. the fish would seem to be swimming underwater.

thanks for every bodies input. it's together but not sure i like it. right now it's hanging on the design wall while i decide if i'm taking it apart or leaving it. i think the biggest problem is the colors are so boring.....but that's the shirts i had to work with. when i get home i will post a pic and see what you all think. thanks again.

Try this format. I think it might give you all the pizazz you want and solve your sashing problems at the same time. It is a non-traditional style that apparently was designed by a 14 yr old GD of one of our members. It's very attractive. Anyway, it might help you to think outside the box, or outside the rectangle. okay here it is. now be honest you won't hurt my feeling cause i really don't like it anyway but this is the colors i had to work with. i really didn't want to add any other fabric to it but i had no choice but to make the fish. it was toooooo blah without them. i have no problem taking it apart if anybody has a better idea.

I think it looks fine....you used the shirts and did what you could with them. I'm not fond of the black with the white flowers...but it does give it a tropical flair...that goes with fish. Good job!
