I have been wanting to make a quilt for my daughter and her husband. However she has painted their room a dark teal green. Everything I put beside it doesn't look good and I want to stay away from browns and beige. If it was teal blue it would be wonderful with turquoise but this dark teal green just throws me for a loop. I don't have a pattern in mind either so any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much. Have a great day, early fall up here in Maine :)

peach/orange/rust or pink/rosy red is what comes to my mind if you want to avoid tans and browns

Maybe lilac/lavender?

A picture of the color would help..??

You could go with monochromes, like blues/greens/ocean colors.

You could go with a color triad- the dark teal with orange and pink.

Lastly, you could go with a split complement: take the 2 colors on either side of the dark teal (I would think blue and green) and use the dark teal's opposite color (peach).

If you used a good variety of shades of each color- regardless of what you make, I think it would be lovely!

How about a Lone Star with gradient shades? This pattern is very easy, it's done with half square triangles. No Y seams.

I have teal carpet in my house, and love it. Teal itself can be hard to match, but I have used pinks and whites as complements. And a bit of lt. coral. Blues and greens also would work very well. Lots of options there!

Go to the paint section and look at paint chips and audition colors with the closest one to her room, if you can't get a paint chip of her exact color. Get lots of chips and take them into the room and play, play, play.

Try contrasting colors, if your daughter and son-in-law are in agreement. Yellow, or gold to start and go from there!
