I need the help of my quilting sisters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania

I will be traveling to southern New Jersey in June. From there we are going to Hersey, PA. We will be returning to NJ via Lancaster County, PA. If you are familiar with these areas and have a favorite" must see" fabric or quilt shop, please share the name and location. I know you all regularly share a wealth of quilting information. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.......Judi

I went looking for quilt shops in those areas several months ago. My husband went on line and pulled up the names and addresses of quite a number of them. Much to our dismay at least four of them that we tried to visit were out of business including the one listed in Hershey, PA. I would suggest calling ahead to any shop you get information for just to be sure they are still there.

Hi Nonna,

Ladyfingers Sewing Studio is located in Oley, PA (Berks County)

Ladyfingers is owned by Gail Kessler, who is also the creator of 140+ Colors of Dimples for Andover Fabrics.

We are known for stocking fabrics that you may not find elsewhere (over 4000 bolts of fabric!), making us THE destination store when you are looking for something special.

Ladyfingers Sewing Studio is centrally located in the beautiful, historic Oley Valley between Pottstown and Reading, PA. Our store is in the former Griesemersville Hotel Built in 1860

Everyone's fav in Lancaster - The Old Country Store - has closed. I like The Quilt & Fabric Shack in Bird-in-Hand, PA which is just down the road from where Old Country was located. There are a few others in the area there that are easy enough to find and get to.

If you can tell me where in NJ you are going to be I can give you some info as to NJ shops. Feel free to PM me if you don't want that info 'out there' for all to see.

There is a nice quilt place, needles & pins , in swedesboro nj. Not far from route 322. Also quilting possibilities in forked river, not far off the garden state parkway. (exit 74, I believe) There is a fabric store in Vineland, NJ on route 47 called the Pin Cushion which carries a lot of quilting fabric but also general sewing fabrics. There is a shop in the general area of Cherry Hill, NJ but I have never been there and don't know the name.
There are lots of places in Lancaster county pa. Zooks, the pa fabric outlet, Obie's, Sylvia's, log cabin and several others. All are more or less in the same area and can be visited along your way back home on a single day. Enjoy!

Smilespinners in Marysville is not far from Hershey. They have a broad and large selection and the friendliest most helpful service anywhere. I visit them whenever I am in the area.

If you go there consider eating at Duke's. The food is decent and you can sit on the deck right on the river.

Yes, unfortunately quite a few quilt shops are closing. We just had a weekend quilting retreat in Lebanon, Pa (just outside of Hershey). We began our trip from our suburban Philadelphia homes and traveled through some of Lancaster county to Lebanon. If you pm me I'd be glad to share the map that was given to us. Also there is Zooks in Intercourse, the Log Cabin Quilt Shop in (Bird in Hand I believe) and the Quilt Shack. These are all located on Old Philadelphia Pike within a few miles of each other. I can get exact addresses and phone numbers if you like. None of the shops in Lancaster County are open on Sundays. If you need specific information I'd be more than happy to help you out. Are you planning to visit Hershey for the quilt show in July?

Here is a link to a thread about the same topic. If you have any questions, let me know. I live about a quarter mile from Lancaster County. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...n-t242692.html

My favorite is Burkholder's in Denver PA. It's way out in the country but well worth the trip.

Olde City Quilts in Burlington NJ is very nice with lots of fabric and nice people. Pennington Quilts in Pennington, N j has a nice selection of fabric, especially batiks. People are not as friendly, however.
