I need help with paper piecing
 

I bought fabric and a pattern for paper piecing but may have taken on more then I can handle. Does anyone know a good youtube or web site that tells how to do it. We are not taking about a little sail boat or cat. These are New York Beauty circles. The pattern is by Chris Jurd and doesn't come with much for instructions. Can you HELP me, I' may be in Big trouble if I can't figure it out.

I just checked out the Craftsy.com site and there's a quick strip piecing class they offer that looks like it's just what you need. It's on sale for 19.99. I've taken a few Craftsy classes and absolutely love them. You can keep watching over and over again, ask questions, rewind parts that you didn't quite get the first time. I definitely recommend it.

Carol Doak teaches paper piecing at craftsy.com. Highly recommended. Also, my favorite youtube videos are http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=silBqD9mQL4 Leah Day also has youtube videos. Paper piecing becomes addictive so beware!

that was a good illustration on youtube. I have a hard time making them too, hers looked so pretty.

The hardest part of the paper piecing for a NY Beauty will be to be sure the triangular piece covers the space for it. You can place the piece over the space, and flipping it the right way can be difficult.

I do not know how tricky your pattern is but you already have some good leads from the other members. Take some fabric from your stash and practice a block or two. The best learning tool is doing.

I did a Mariners star Compass (my avitar) by PP'ing The corners were similar to the NY Beauty. The curved PP pieces that made the actual corner points were not what bogged me down but setting them into a square. I made the setting actual pieces larger then trimmed square.

Good luck and let us see the finished project. I agree that you can think you have enough of a piece but flip it the wrong way and then you use the ripper. Ask how I know!
