The alternating blue and white squares would look very nice.

Blue and white squares WOULD look wonderful. Sometimes the very simple patterns can be the most pleasing to the eye and relaxing.

I have a very simple one made with four 2" squares made into one block of color and 2" sashing strips in white. It is old fashioned and classic looking.
