I need ideas on what patterns might work better for these kinds of prints
I was given several Asian prints and need some ideas on what quilt patterns might work better for these prints or even what kinds of projects to put them in...

Can you post pictures of the fabrics?

without the fabric images, it is hard to say. One of my favorite uses for an oriental FQ is as background for what I call "Initial Success". This is a single initial applique as a quick gift wallhanging. I also bought a printof a very large egret in flight. I merely put corners on it to make a diagonal placement. This was a twin sized quilt that sold for good money at auction. In the qulting, I outlined the feathers. I did feathered triangular 'wreaths' in the corners. The scale of you prints makes a huge difference. Someone on this board used a number of smaller scale prints, mainly florals, in 9" or so circles appliqued to a black background. That was lovely. I designed a table runner tea set using a small floral print and a couple of co0rdinating plains. They gave a nice impression of an oriental tea set.

Scroll down to Happy little lanterns, http://www.lecienusa.com/free-patterns/ or a quilt using the Chinese Lantern quilt block

I too have some Asian fabric. Bought it with the intention of doing a "stack and whack". The repeat is fairly close.

Stack and whack is usually a good option for these.

Here's one that makes up a real pretty quilt -
https://spotlight.com.au/inspiration...-garden-quilt/ I have made it using non oriental fabrics - and I will keep it in my list of 'proven' patterns! Good luck and please share your end results! |
