I finished the main portion of my doll quilt for the October swap and now have no idea how I should quilt it. I can't do freemotion with my machine, only straight lines. I seem to be creatively drained right now. I could try some hand quilting, but my hands are shaky and the stitches would not be neat and uniform. I thought that would not be to bad if I used the quilting to add to the quilt properly but now I am at a loss as to thread color, type of quilting etc.

So as to not spoil the surprise for my swap partner I've posted pics to my blog (see siggy)but won't put them on here. (it is ad free, not trolling for blog hits, just need help) Please advise! Thank you!

Your quilt is lovely. How about just grid quilting?? It is one of my favorites. Just outline figures first. I would be tickled pink to receive it.

What about making it look sort of windy?

I got some good advice about a way to make it look windy without having to free motion, through pm. I'd like that if it works! I think I'll put the border on and see if grid quilting or windy would look better over all.

Thank you for taking the time to lend me some help!

Hmm. Most any sewing machine can do FMQ. If you can't drop the feed dogs, then you have to find a way to cover the feed dogs securely. I put heavy plastic - like from a grocery box - taped it down with a hole for the needle over the feed dogs on my old machine and it worked.

You might want to try it.
