I need suggestions for enlarging my quilt

Several years ago I started the Craftsy quilt, "Triple Barnstar by Amy Gibson " for my daughter. She changed her mind and I just left it in the 10 inch blocks. I found the matching the jelly roll of the same fabric on sale and for some reason I did buy it. I also have 4 fat quarters left. That finished quilt is 72 inches. They just bought a camper with a king sized bed and would like me to enlarge her quilt into a 92" square. I need your ideas for a border made out of the 2.5 inch strips.
I saw a braid border made out of 1.5" strips. What do you think of 2.5" strips in the braid. I might be able to find a little of the white fabric I used. It mainly large half quarter triangles, a few solid squares and the corners are 3 "L" squares.
Thank you for any suggestions.

I like the braid border idea. You can certainly use 2.5" strips. I would experiment with scrap fabrics to figure out how long to cut the pieces. You will need to add 10" borders on each side. Given the design of the top you have already made, I think it would be best to enclose the braid on each side with a plain fabric border, so you might want to make the braid itself 6" to 8" wide. Here is a link to a Crafty tutorial on how to make a braid:

If you are short on fabric, you might want to cut the pieces to exact size before sewing so you don't have to trim.
