I picked up three quilting books for $1.00 (yes, one dollar!) each at my library's book sale: Mariner's Compass Stars by Carol Doak (has a CD, too!) Little Brown Bird Patterns by Margaret Dockerty Quilting Shortcuts by Maggie Malone Yay!!   Anita |
WOW! You got each one for 33 cents and the cd was a penny. You did good.
Good for you, great deal.
What a find! Good for you!
I have been looking for Maggie Malone's book "1000 Blocks" for ages. I wish I could find it at a library book sale.
Yaaaay!!!!! Awesome!!!!
WOW - that was a very good deal! That gives me a great idea - my DD recently started working part-time at her library and I need to tell her to keep her eyes open for quilt books that they might have for sale.
Congratulations. BrendaK

Your Little Brown Bird Patterns book is on Amazon for over $25 used and over $75 new. Looks like you really hit the jackpot.

My DDIL works at Leisure Arts and has given me quilt books for many years. She used to get them free after they circulated throuhout their company. Now, they have occasional "yard sales" to the public and she gets them pennies on the dollar. It has been wonderful! You certainly did well with your purchase. I love bargains! This past week I got fabric at WalMart for $.87 yd and $1.00 yd and loved it.

I thought I was fortunate to find a nice copy of Little Brown Bird - for $22 including shipping! Yes, you did good.
Good score. I'm like duster and found LBB for $20.00 and free shipping several years ago and thought I hit a good score. You get the blue ribbon as champ. Enjoy your books. My local library doesn't even carry quilting books except fiction.

I am so very happy for you! Great score.
Very lucky lady! It is a great day to find a treasure hidden in plain sight. My library has few quilting books to start with so I will not count on finding such a great deal.
Speaking of "old" books, mags. I was at Joann's once and the associate was putting up new mags and taking down outdated...what I was surprised at....she cut off front page and then stacked. I asked what was to become of those mags she said back to publisher or whomever supplies store.......to bad they could not be offered to customers at a reduced price or something like a bonus with purchase of fabric or something..... I do know they do clearance books, caught a few at great prices....$2-$3 each....
Great find, Love the library book sales.
Good for you!! :)
They sound very good. Wish I had them.:hunf: Good for you!
I love it when the library has a sale. Not long before I moved out here my old library had a sale and Annie put all the quilt books aside for me. I got 15 books for $25. I could not touch any one of them at the book store for $25. And 2 1/2 yrs later I still do a happy dance when I get one out for inspiration.
I love going to Joann's when they have 40% off sale on quilt books and I use a 25% coupon off total order....I picked up 10 books one time because I couldn't even get them that cheap off of Amazon!
WOW what a bargain.
Carol Doak book is expensive too. You got a really great deal! Congrats
Did I understand her to say she got the books for $1 EACH?
Congratulations. I always stop by the library book store but usually not any quilting books.
Yes i'd say you did great
Yes, Misseva, $1.00 per book for a total spent of $3.00 cash! One of my best deals ever.

One quick thought...ask your local libraries to "hold" the quilt books for you when (or if) they ever pull them from circulation. A lot of libraries will remove titles from their collections if they have not been borrowed in "X" number of years. I have my name into 3 or 4 local libraries for their discarded books. Some libraries will give them for free, others will sell them. Ask me how I know this....I used to volunteer at one of the local libraries (no, not the one where I bought the quilt books for $1 each).

what a fantastic find! and no sales tax...
Wonderful score, and they went to a good home where they will be used and appreciated, too!
