I seem to have a house full of cabinets, lol
 

I have been going to estate and yard sales, looking for a vintage machine, be it Singer or a really good clone, because I am tired of trying to arm wrestle the quilts under those too little harps on the newer machines. My really nice older Kenmore I found sews beautifully, but even that doesn't have enough room....I know...I tried. And somehow, lol, I did an EXCELLENT job of finding beautiful cabinets.

I now have the two clones sitting IN their beautiful cabinets, one that came with, and one that fits just right. But the new and newer machines don't fit into the cabinets that are left, but sit ON THEM. Hmmm. I really don't have room for 5 open cabinets sitting around.

I suspect I am not the only one with this problem. One on the prettiest is now in the living room, has a lovely vintage crocheted runner on it, and is awaiting a vintage lamp, which I know just where to go to get, lol. Another is sitting closed, with a machine perched on it, next to a bookcase, two are open and ready for use, and well.....the non-tried out clone is sort of sitting in the middle of the floor, blocking traffic, waiting for me to clean it up and try it out. And my really dear dh is not saying a word.

I have a 301 in a beautiful Queenann cabinet and a threadle in a red oak , wish, I had room for more!!LOL

I wish I could find a couple of cabinets for vintage machines. I have 2 cabinets out in the garage for the newer machines and don't need them, plus the machines that go in them.

I seem to have the opposite problem. I find the machines that don't have their carriers, much less their cabinet. Except for two. My treadle of course came in a cabinet, that isn't bad. And a newer acquisition for me, 1960's Montegomery Ward in a very nice cabinet with knee control.
I am using a dressing table for one machine, going to have my DH convert it to sewing with a cutout for the machine.
And the sewing table my DH made me for whatever other machine I need to sew/quilt with at the time.

Boy, am I ever in need of cabinets for any of my machines! Can't never find one so one of my FW is sitting on top of an
one cabinet that i do have and of course, there isn't a machine inside of this one! I think an much bigger machine used to be in this one that i found for $15...oh well, hopefully will find one for my FW's and one brother (this has an case though)~~~Sigh~~~ One day...............

If I were skilled with a saw, which I am not...an dh is really not, lol, I could remodel the cabinets for the newer machines. What I did was just place a shelf over the opening and set the machines on that, so I could use them with the cabinets fully open. BUT.....can't leave them all sitting around open, and still be able to get thru the house, lol. But except for the clones, which are in the cabinets, the rest are portable, and can be switched around.

I have 9 machines in cabinets and 6 cabinets without machines (4 of those are taken apart and stored). The cabinets I am saving are for full size singers, Kenmores with square corners and one free arm cabinet. So I think I am set for awhile. One of these days I need to start thinning the herd. :eek:
