I shopped Tuesday

Hubby and I shopped on Tuesday and it was plenty busy but since it is only us we are done. So Wednesday I got out a really old ufo, finished some appliqué on one block. Thursday added three blocks to the top decided on borders and cooked a little. Today I finished adding borders and did my first board basting. Now I’m ready to give my new to me Sweet Sixteen a drive.

So what’s under your needle this weekend.

That was a pretty busy week! Keep us posted about the Sweet Sixteen!

I'm finishing off Christmas ornaments and aprons as gifts. Looking forward to getting back to my own projects.

We went out and also did some online Christmas shopping today. The accuquilt cutter I’ve been eyeing went on sale today so we picked that up (yay!). I’ve been in the sewing room off and on getting set up and working on a mondo bag I’m almost done with.

I'm ripping out some quilting. It's so tedious, but I think another 1/2 hour should do it. I knew it didn't look that good, but I kept quilting instead of stopping. I should've used rulers instead of winging it. Then hopefully I can get back to the quilting.

Finished a quilt top and the backing is ready. It will go to the quilter next week. Started a machine embroidery table runner. The count down is on.

I am working on a Christmas wall hanging. It has three large blocks featuring snowmen. The top is done and has been pinned. I am hand quilting it. It took a while to get up the nerve to put the machine applique in a hoop. I was worried that it might "hurt" it. Have done several areas and it isn't crushed so my blood pressure is going down. ha ha.

have a lap quilt mostly pieced on the design wall that I intend to finish when Son's family leaves tomorrow evening (probably won't get it done until Sunday) and then next week when we go to the city I plan to get minky for it and 2 other lap quilts and get them done for Christmas. Also need to get 2 wall hangings done for sibs for Christmas. haven't touched anything fabric related since Wed. afternoon as son's family in town and we've been very busy with g-boys--another full day tomorrow and then they head home after dinner (avoiding a major storm on Sunday).

I'm still working on a much needed purge of the sewing room and closet. The closet is a tiny under the staircase one and is only 65' x 44, so I pulled everything out and added shelving units in an L shape.....I now have 3 shelves of bed size batting, and a tote full of medium sized leftover that can be used for table runners/mats. I can fit another two laundry hampers of my fabric strips left over from other projects. Also found a few UFO's! Last week I purged fabric and sold some off on Facebook along with patterns and quilt books. At least now I know what I have and won't over buy stuff that isn't needed. Maybe next week I can start sewing again!!

DH and I are visiting his brother and sister in law in Ohio for Thanksgiving so I have a crochet project with me. We hiked yesterday to work off the pies from Thursday.

Put my home back in order after Thanksgiving. Yesterday I did my Xmas decorating. No cooking as have leftovers for the weekend. Today finish decorating and then finish a bag I am making. Will start my shopping next week when places are not so busy. Just cannot deal anymore with hundreds of people rushing around in a frenzy. To each his own.

Working on three Christmas stockings for our DD, son-in-law, and GS. Need to quilt the novelty print first though before I cut out. Finally got the monogram cuffs done on the embroidery machine. Was having a devil of a time with the thread shredding: changed stabilizer, changed needle and finally thread but got er done : ) Also decided to do a flannel lap quilt for my mom in the nursing home. Seems I always stress myself out by coming up with projects at the last minute. Bet I'm not alone!

Woke up early today, still deciding what to do with myself. Hubby will be watching the Michigan/Ohio State game today starting at 9:00 our time, that's still a couple hours away.

I went to three Goodwills yesterday and picked up a bunch of fabric at half off the already low prices. I guess I can start prewashing so I don't feel like a total sloth and work some more organizing the sewing room. I know my boxes are in much better shape than they were before, but the room as a whole doesn't seem to be making much progress... maybe I should stop getting my bargains.

I had planned to be doing a bunch of quilting down at this point in the year but I don't currently have access to my friend's long-arm. I do have a number of quilts on the to-do list (and I keep getting more ideas from looking at people's pictures here) but I don't have anything I'm raring to get started. I do have my turkey fan blades to put down on the background fabric but was saving that for something to do at my small group on Tuesday.

Decisions decisions, when in doubt, drink more coffee and play with fabric!

I also cleaned up the home from thanksgiving and cleaned up the sewing room from making Christmas stockings and pillows gifts for this year. I am currently choosing fabrics for a tilde doll for my young teen niece for Christmas. I gave her baby sister a sock monkey doll thanksgiving and she wanted one, so I am toying with the idea of making her one of those too. We will see.

I did not sew or quilt all holidays. Had company.

All I can say by the first of the year we must have the most organized, cleaned up studios around. I got two new shelves up also and all my bolt fabric arranged.

Im in Heaven. Love the Sweet Sixteen even got it to behave fairly well with metallic without much tension issue. Did discover that need to only use two of the top thread guides instead of three. Got all of the SID done and some of the straitish ruler work done. All so much easier than on the Bernina. Here is what it looks like for now.

Love the dolls your niece will be thrilled.

Am working on door prizes for Quilts From the Heart holiday party. Prizes are mostly small quilts including a small version of Bonnie Hunter's Many Trips Around the world. Also pincushions and a sewing basket made from a bamboo steamer (pattern was in a Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine which is somewhere in my house so I cannot tell you name of designer) and may do some 3-D trees on my embroidery machine if I have the time. The party is December 2. I have 6 quilts to make before New Year's Eve, Thankfully, the presents we give are gift cards.
