I think I have discovered my next project....
 

I came across this picture (http://www.flickr.com/photos/rettg/4...n/photostream/) and thought it would be a great idea for a rag quilt!!! I was inspired.
I absolutely love tetris and think this would be an awesome blanket.
I've never made a rag quilt before, so my question is: Do you have any tips? (How big should the squares be?)

That is really neat! My question is, how big are her squares? I usually do 8" squares so I can make a good sized quilt without having to put together zillions of squares to make it a decent size. This one I did was 8" squares, 10 rows x 10 rows.

Very cool! It looks like it is 14 squares X 17 squares. You could always make it shorter or longer.

If you used 6 1/2" blocks it would measure 84" X 102"

If you used 8 1/2" blocks it would measure 112" X 136

I personally like the bigger blocks and mainly because I have the Accuquilt Go Rag Die and it is 8 1/2"

Just finished 2 of them for Christmas. I made my blocks 6.5 inches and then did 10 rows long by 10 rows wide using 5 fabrics. My best advice? Buy the rag quilt scissors and make sure the spring works. I bought one and had to return it after snipping one full row. Good luck!

Very cool....would make a brilliant rag quilt. Do buy the spring-loaded snips. I have Fiskars which have seen me through several rag quilts and still are going strong.

yep I agree. Also in the simplicity pattern catolog there are cute animal rag quilts.

I was fortunate to belong to a guild that had an Accuquilt Go with the 8" rag die, that they loan out to members. So much easier than even the spring loaded scissors. Found the Go Baby on sale for approx. $75 and received for a Christmas present. That would be a fun project and a lot of planning...I just did a denim rag quilt.

No tips, but love the idea! Colorful and fun. Retro cool. :)
