I sure hope I'm wrong on this. About a month ago we went into the town, that is close to us at the lake, for their sidewalk days & naturally I always head to the quilt shop. That's when I noticed I might have a disease. I'm usually all excited about going in & looking around but that day I just couldn't really get excited about it & I actually left without buying anything! Not even from the sales section. A couple of weeks ago I went to Duluth for a wedding & stopped at a quilt shop in Walker & once again I didn't feel like buying anything & nothing jumped out at me to get me excited & I left without buying anything again. I'm really beginning to worry since our annual Quilt Show is coming up in a couple of weeks & I'm afraid I might not be cured by then. Anybody have any suggestions on how to overcome this terrible disease???? I need help!!!!!

maybe pick a pattern and buy some fabrics for a particular quilt,
so you can get back into sewing and quilting again

Not to worry, your disease is self-limiting, just like a cold. It will go away and you'll be good as new!

Sometimes we get overwhelmed by all the stuff and planned projects, etc. Maybe you have enough on your plate and getting more would be glutinous. It's perfectly fine to walk through a store and admire everything but buy nothing...

Buying for the sake of buying isn't fun. Finish some projects and you will probably be in the purchasing mood again.

You poor dear. What a horrible thing to have happen. I can sometimes go a month without buying fabric but then I find myself on the second floor of the hospital I work at gazing out the window at the fabric store across the street and find myself wanting to leave work and go there. Then I know I'm in remission and will start buying again. Don't worry.......your will find that fabric that calls your name and will be on the road to recovery soon.

Sounds like good advice to me

Oh, dear. I hope that it's not contagious just reading about it!!

Here's wishing you a short session of that lesser known disease "Oh, what do I want with this stuff?" that some unlucky folks get.

Get well soon.

I have suffered from that disease from time to time. What I found to help is my mindset. The antidote is the following mantra: "I do not need anything from the quilt store/show. I have no need to buy anything. I will not buy anything. I am not even taking the checkbook so I CAN'T buy anything!"
Guaranteed - you'll find something you can't live without and on the rare chance that you really don't find anything - it's OK.

Try doing something totally different! Maybe a bag or something you can gift for Christmas...?

I think I have the disease too. Haven't bought anything for weeks now and the Quilt Expo in Madison is next week. I've tried taking inventory to make a shopping list but so far nothing's on the list. I've had fleeting moments of thinking about not attending but I correct myself right away. I'm hoping when my Espire comes back from the Dr. I'll get in the mood again. If you find a cure before next weekend let me know!
