Might be nice for the kids, get them to know their states. Definitly different than your average kid's quilt.

:-)

I think that is a great idea!

cute idea, thanks for sharing with us and would be cute to put a thumb tack in each state you have visited

That was a very funny blog post. Thanks for linking to it.

And, yes, I think it's a great idea for a kid's room.

Because thinking there are 52 instead of 50......that ain't as rare as one would think. And that scares me. A lot.

My GF put a map of the US on the wall using carpet pieces. It was huge.

Not to change the subject but did she really think there were 52 states until she was 22 years old? I'm slightly horrified.

That would be fun! In my case I have traveled through or lived in all of the states except for Maine, and other upper New England states.

Neat idea!

Can also use a Cricut and cut the states with the STATES cartridge. For my Cub Scouts I cut out a set of states for each of them. They worked with their parents (some had more trouble with this than others) and glued down the states to construction paper. Then I laminated - VIOLA - colorful USA placemats.

Fun, easy and educational!

Love it love it love it and I'm Irish! but one of my four children is American and would really love to make him something like that as a quilt or wall hanging to bring home with us. In fact I was going to put up a thread question on how to go about making a state flag as a quilt but if I can't figure that one out this would be great. Can you PM me if you do get around to doing it? Many thanks x

When we used to play Trivia Pursuit we put a world map on the wall --- just for fun -- see where we were talking about is.

I did make one for a 10 year old nephew. He wasn't real excited, but maybe it will be a helpful learning tool anyway. I haven't asked yet, but I'm thinking I will offer him a bed quilt also.

That's really cool! It would be awesome as a quilt, too.
