This is one of those blocks I would never do and don't really like. Then someone will show up with it at a meeting and I will love it. My brain can't do these things, but it likes other people's creations.

That's it, KyKat! I'm the same way. Now I know, I'm just avant garde and didn't know it! I actually think that's cool and would like to do it. (Can you tell I'm not a "real" quilter? lol)

I peeked too and headed out the door. Not for me! I have enough problems getting mine right!!

I might like this one! so long as it's obviously wonky it makes it ok for me. I did a crazy 9 patch swap (or 4 patch?) can't remember - in blues/yellows- need to get the backing ready for long arm quilter and it'll be done - it's pretty wild though with that color combo.
I've done the Kwik Krazy patterns - 3 Kwik Krazy and their star pattern - used freezer paper to draw lines and cut then certain pieces were shuffled - did red and green Christmas fabrics from Joanns..came out pretty neat

Those stars are too wonky for me. I did two quilts with Fons and Porter's "Lucky Stars" pattern and thoroughly enjoyed the whimsical result. See my post from a while back:

Looks like the Pointless Wonder, which has been around for years.

Years ago I was introduced to the concept ... only it was called the "ish" factor or some such ... the idea is to create beauty in whatever form you find appealing whether it is matching points and seams or ? Wonky on purpose blocks can be very freeing because the beauty is in the whole quilt.
I can match points or have my blocks look like I dropped them off a bridge ... and I enjoy all of them.

As long as the block lays flat - - - -

Wouldn't be for me. I have so many quilts I do want to make. Different strokes for different folks.

About 10 years ago I taught a class on the Stack and Slash star, mine used Christmas prints and WOW. It turned out very nice and I felt it looked like twinkling stars.
