I was wandering about
the different in the old machines and the newer ones on stitch lengths. I just can't seem to remember the stitch lengths for the metric system and it bugs the heck out of me. On the old machines if you set the stitch length to 10 that's about how many stitches in an inch you get but what is the same amount in metric?
Anyway I did a search about stitch lengths and found this website. It's quite interesting on how they determine what is the best length to use for what fabrics. http://www.amefird.com/wp-content/up...SPI-2-5-10.pdf It didn't answer my original question but I though this one was worth sharing. ok with further searching I came across this which explains how to figure it out. http://www.quiltmaker.com/blogs/quil...stitch-length/ Hope this helps someone besides me |
Hey Sue, what great reference sites you've shared! Thanks. I can't wait to explore them!
Best to you, Jan in VA |
I usually just use the default setting on my machine. If I want something different I just make a sample swatch.

My machine is somewhat difficult to tell what length you have it set on so I just have to look at the length of the stitches and figure out if they're what I want and adjust accordingly. Not very scientific by works for me. ;)

I've also been a bit confused about metric versus stitches per inch. Thanks for the links.
