Oh my, I do feel for you. I have had similar things happen to me or you work and work and get in a hurry and realize at the last moment that you just cannot get it finished in time because in your haste you have made a BIG boo-boo. It seems all you can do is have a good cry, take a deep breath, relax and try again tomorrow. Your embroidery is actually beautiful. Such a beautiful job. Thank goodness you have a back-up plan so it isn't so bad. We all make mistakes as we are only human. Your mom would probably love a hankie if it was from you.Don't be so hard on yourself. God did not make us perfect. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} Donna

It's a beautiful design. I just wish I would have tested my stabilizer before hand. But what can you do! :-) I might take the jacket apart, and make a throw pillow out of it for myself. Hugs, Wanda |
So sorry that happened to you. I feel your pain. I messed up two very simple projects yesterday because I didn't measure right, and then didn't have any more of the fabric. It should have been a very fast and simple project, but I managed to turn it into a catastrophe. Back away from your project for a little while, and try again. I am sure you will have something beautiful in the end.

I use glad press & Seal now so I don't do that again. BTW, it is BEAUTIFUL!! Maybe you can add some cording around the design to hide the stabilizer?? Where did you get that design? I've used glad press and seal, but since I've been using the vilene I just love how it's almost like fabric and no matter how many stitches, it does not tear away until you're ready to remove it. At this point I'm just going to be remaking it. I got that design for a company called www.hatchedinafrica.com She has beautiful designs and I've had it for about 3 years, and I just got the courage to stitch it and I screwed it up so bad. But lesson learned. Always test the stabilizer before I use it next time! lol Thanks again for your kinds words. Hugs, Wanda |
We have all goofed and created new problems to solve. I like the suggestion to make another one for Christmas. Sometimes the best of plans fail to materialize. Don't give up - just forge ahead. You'll have plenty of company.

that's what I was thinking. I'll just keep it for myself, and this way I'll always remember to check my stabilizer before I start a new project! LOL Hugs, Wanda |

The only thing that is good is that you shared with all of us and now maybe you saved one of us from doing the same thing. I just finished a Boy Scout quilt for my grandson; thought I had used tear away stabilizer where I embroidered his name; went to tear away and it doesnt' want to budge. I have no idea what I put there but thank God, it is inside and I could cut most of it away. See, we all do these things. Take a breath and forgive yourself.
Thanks for making me feel better. I'm sorry it did happen to you, but it's great that you were able to save the quilt. I'm sure this was a lesson that I needed to learn or else everything would of just gone smoothly! LOL Now I just have to find my vilene! LOL Hugs, Wanda |

Thanks Donna, you're right, I was not made perfect. My mom didn't know I was making this anyway, so It's okay if I send it for Christmas. At least now I have a few more months! Hugs back at ya! Wanda |

I'll keep you all posted on my next attempt! lol hugs, Wanda |
what if you took a match and just ran it over the area you want to remove the interfacing? the lady I got my viking used it to remove the stitches after she cut them. That way there was no pokies sticking out.. Is this a bad idea?

I'm sorry you suffered this project. It always dreamed!
But just for now, safe for Christmas we will show how wonderful! Return the bag to his mother with a few small things beautiful and a beautiful card that says love! And you eat a piece of chocolate, a cool drink and take a walk outdoors to clear his pain and return with new courage to face the bag! Thanks for sharing .... insurance will help many people! And others are here to share everything with you! A big, big hug! |
When I use Vilene, I soak it in very warm (but not hot) water for 10-15 minutes and usually have no problem....good luck!
|
It is beautiful and the good news, you did it on white, not on black.
|
Is there any way to do some free motion stitching or more decorative stitching to tame those edges?
|
My heart breaks for you. I have made some messes that needed to be sent out and were not able to go out on time. Take a deep breath. Let it out slowly and scream. Just one good scream (if it doesn't scare the kids). Feel better?? I will scream here for you too.
|
I have never had this happen with Vilene. I usually tear it off before and it all comes off.
I hope you have better luck. It is a great product for machine embroidery. |
if its loose try using duct tape -like removing cat hair-the duct tape is stickier than masking -clip out as much as possible then soak it for a spell before you re-wash This is how I had to get rid of viline I don't use it anymore
|
That is an absolutely gorgeous design. Hope you can get the the interfacing off.
|
Does the product have a 800 number on the package? I've called companies before and gotten good advice.
|
The product I know as vilene does not dissolve.
|
So much work. It's a beautiful pattern. That's a warning to us all; double check first. I have so many different interfacings and stabilizers I think it's time to put them in a zip lock bag individually and label them.
|
So sorry whernandez. We have ALL been in this situation before. But just look at it this way, you have learned a lot from it for your future projects and you have became a little closer to the people on the board. We love sharing, whether it be in successes, events, funny stories, happy endings, and even failures. We feel your pain. We cry with you. We get over it and go on. You can do it too. We all wish you luck.
Tomorrow will be a better day. |

Well, just think by Christmas you'll probably have it all trimmed. I have done some of those things too and was just sick. I teach a little girls sewing class and just the other day we were making potholders with thermal batting. The little girl gave it to me and I whacked off a big chunk of material and lo, and behold I whacked off the batting at the same time. I had to go back and put a seam where it shouldn't have been.
It will work out fine but I can feel your pain. |
I'm sorry this happened...but, I have to jump in and add that it is just a beautiful design...Maybe if you make another one for your mom, after you give it to her, you can show her the pillow or whatever you make from this one and tell her the story...be able to laugh about it eventually...I know that is how I have handled some things...my quilt group gals were astonished that I would tell them of some of my big quilt snafus...and could laugh about it! Now they also "tell" on themselves...

Your design is so lovely and here is a hug to help you .I'm a beginner with t-shirts and sweatshirts and i know that i'm going to screw up big time.I have done 1 t-shirt and it took me over 3 hours to do and half my words you can't read but its mine and i did it.I hope that you can get the purse done in time to send.
|
Bless your heart. I am so sorry tht this happened to you. Your embroidery design is beautiful. Mom will love it whenever she receives it.
|
Ok here is an option but will take a bit of time. Trim as much off as you can and then line the back and front pieces of the jacket - don't worry about lining the sleeves.
Hope this helps. |
I have no suggestions but just wanted to add what an awesome design it is.
|
Calm down and have a huge chocolate. You already have a solution. This happened to me on embroidered curtains. All done and could see the stalizer all wrinkly etc. I cut all embroidery out and attached on a new valance. What a job.
But it all works out. |
It is a beautiful design and with the white sweatshirt nothing screams out at the one looking at it. I knowyou are very disappointed right now-but you did a beautiful job and just trim and instead of trying to get out the "intricut" parts I think I would leave the interfacing-it may give dimension to the stitches instead of the fuzzy parts. Relax and then it will hopefully look better to you.
|
Oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. You did an absolutely marvelous job of stitching; the peacock is the prettiest peacock design I've seen so far, and I have purchased quite a few of these different designs --love peacocks. The colors you chose are so delicate and yet so dramatic on the white. I liked the suggestion offered earlier of making this first one into a pillow and then re-stitching the design again for Mom, later having a story to share with each other; I'm a great fan of "making memories". I am reminded of the time my young granddaughter and I were making a tee shirt project with a transfer in the front for her Mom. We were having the grandest time and were in total excitement and suspense, waiting to see how it would look. Well, when we removed the transfer paper, I had put the transfer on backwards! She just looked at me, and together we both started laughing - what a great memory! (We did, however, re-do it, and everything turned out OK the second time.) Take heart, things will work out for you, too. Hugs!
|
Wanda, that's why all of my embroidery stabilizers are kept in a plastic tote by itself and my garment stabilizers are kept in a plastic tote by themselves and I go out of my way to make sure they never meet.
|
If it was fusible interfacing you might try heating it with an iron. I googled for help and that was a suggestion.
|
Vilene is not a water-soluable stabilizer. It's a lightweight fusible. Wonderful product for that.
|
you have to make sure your water is hot and you need to kind of rub the material together to help remove it ,your project is in no way ruined, just needs a little more water and hotter this time.If you could I would just throw it in the washer and give it a good wash
