I want to make a quilt. How do you decide what you are going to make? I have some blue jeans squares cut out and some light blue flannel. I would like to make a blue jean quilt. I would like to put sashing between the squares. Any ideas??? I don't want to make a big one, maybe the size of a twin.

blue jeans and flannel would make a really lovely rag quilt

If you have never made a quilt, I would start with something small like a wall hanging or throw to get the basics down. Sewing with denim that is thicker than regular cotton, can be difficult with the seams. A basic 9 patch is good if you are not following a pattern. That's what they teach in high school home ec. You can even make a 9 patch pot holder.

just jump right in and sew is one option... those would make a great rag quilt combination. Or you can browse images.google.com ~ type in quilt pattern and see if anything strikes your fancy? :)

sew sashing strips between alternating denim & flannel- or frame each square-which ever way you like- stitched into strips (rows) alternate the order from one row to the next and stitch the rows together---voila=== a quilt top

Every time I hear "blue jeans" I think of a blue jean circle quilt. This one is pretty neat: (scroll down to the 4th post)
