I went crazy on scrappy 4 patches
 

I have over 100-11" scrappy 4 patches. Now I need interesting ways to put them together.
I was thinking about using a solid sashing with a triangle on each end to make a star center, but I'm not completely sure how to do that. I'm wanting to make QOV's.

Does anyone have tutorial links to share or ideas to share?

Check out the mini train ride mystery on the Blocks of the Month forum. We just did something similar with 9 patches. Turned out great!

Also, you might pick up some information and hints on the Quilts of Valor website...and there are several other organizations that make the same type of quilts...www.AmericanHeroQuilts.com is another...good luck, sounds like you've made a great start!

Missouri Star has a tutorial you may like using 4 patch. Would definitely use up what you've made so far & sounds like what your looking for.

Dumb question! But can someone please give me a direct link to the Block of the Month forum. Thanks.

Sometime ago someone on this forum told about a disappearing 16 patch using any size squares to start with. Maybe you could sew 4 of your 4 patches together and follow those instructions-very easy I tried it with some scraps just to see how it would look and really liked it. Basically all you do it cut your 16 patch on the diagonal like an X, seperate them,rotate and sew 2 back together ,repeat and you end up with 2 nice squares that look like they are on point. You can sew these together and keep going or put sashing between .Hope this helps.

Wouldn't that make a huge block? I'm not sure I have a ruler big enough to cut something that big-it would be roughly 22" block...hmmm that is a thought, I've seen a tutorial for the pattern http://happyquiltingmelissa.blogspot...appearing.html and planned to add it to my bucket list.

The bom was exactly what I was looking for-the sashing that makes a star. Now I have 2 ideas for all my 4 patches.

The Disappearing 4 patch looks great when done. I highly recommend it!

My first thought was the disappearing 4-patch which was already suggested and they look really impressive. Hope you post pics of your finished project. That is A LOT of four-patches!

I just did this one with yellow and red instead of blue and red. My 4 patches were 4 1/2" instead of 5 1/2", but the measurements were easy to change.
I also did this one from Quilter's Cache

Again, I had to change the sizes because my original squares were 2 1/2" and my blocks were 4 1/2".

Personally, I think the d4p looks better if it has one dominant color throughout the quilt, to sort of pull it all together. I do plan to make one of those too.

I'll check out the quiltiville one and Sunny Lane one.

Looks like i may need to make more. i didn't realize some many blocks incorporated the basic 4 patch.

Charity, here is the Sunny Lanes. Don't mind the edges. It is the back of a quilt and I had to make it fit.

She has later posts with it done in red and blue, too, but I like the yellow.

I made a D16P with 5" squares and they weren't too big. I would think small squares would lose something.
