I will now agree...quilting is addicting. lol

I am almost done with my Mom's quilt, have to cut out the binding and attach it. I just ordered the backing for the Jelly Roll Race quilt top I have done, then I will start the second one. AND I bought a charm pack that I plan to make a quilt out of. I also have to finish putting interfacing on the t-shirts for Hubby's quilt, then get him to get his DCU so I can actually start the quilt.

I still want to try to learn FMQ but haven't done it yet. But I will!

Oh and hats off to you that make such big quilts! I am just doing straight lines on a 60"x75" quilt and it is frustrating at times. But I still love it!

Buckeye Rose 02-14-2012 10:22 AM

I agree 100% that quilting is addicting.....and it gets worse with every quilted object I make! Congrats on completion of your mom's quilt and good luck for all of your future projects. Just remember us here on the board when you have questions....we love to give our advice and answer any questions. I just wish I had found this board when I was making my first quilt....there would have been so many less mistakes! LOL

tngal22 02-14-2012 10:24 AM

Oh I won't forget ya! I am still learning so I know I will have lots of questions!

annies-best 02-14-2012 10:30 AM

totally addicting

grammy Dwynn 02-14-2012 10:31 AM

yes, ~ Hi ~ my name is . . . . . . and I am a addict .. .. to quilting that is. :)

tngal22 02-14-2012 10:41 AM

Well when you get the Breaking Dawn Part I DVD and it has a fabric poster in it and the first thing you say is "This would be a great quilt." Then there might be a problem. lol And yes I do plan to figure out how to make it into a lap quilt. lol

baslp 02-14-2012 10:58 AM

I have also caught the quilting bug! I have made 5 quilts since Sept. I love putting the tops together, but hate binding them when they come back from the quilters.

QuiltingCrazie 02-15-2012 01:20 AM

This board is just as addicting .....I keep looking at my accounting book it's staring back and saying finish reading me so you can finish your homework!! lol I love quilting too, I've been at it for 9 years now and I still feel like I'm learning everyday! I've learned to experiment more and I love charm packs! Look at modabakeshop.com they have this really cute house table runner im going to make into a quilt and tons more...take advantage of free patterns!!

GingerK 02-15-2012 04:44 AM

Dublb thank you for the link! I'm going to try that on my next quilt. Tngal22, Welcome to the Club--Quilters' Anonymous, that is. Who else carries a note pad and graph paper in their purse 'just in case inspiration strikes'?

mighty 02-15-2012 06:58 AM

Yep, seems I have the same addiction!!

Sandra in Minnesota 02-15-2012 03:35 PM

Quilting is just plain relaxing for me. Love, love, love it!

tngal22 02-15-2012 05:44 PM

I finished my mom's quilt in less than a week...shocking since Little Bit don't let me sew much. But it did help she took a LONG nap on Saturday then she was at MDO on Tuesday.

Next up is to start my 2nd Jelly Roll Race Quilt.

dublb 02-15-2012 05:54 PM

Wow, I've never done a quilt in a week! You did good!

tngal22 02-15-2012 06:41 PM

Well, there was no FMQ, just straight stitch so that helped!

dublb 02-15-2012 07:03 PM

Still fast! Even SID I can't do a quilt in a week!!!! Good job!

tngal22 02-15-2012 07:09 PM

Thanks! I posted the pic under my post "Nervous....2nd quilt in the wash".

sewingsuz 02-15-2012 07:10 PM

I love to quilt also but have not learned to do the FMQ either. I should be practicing, Good luck to you and your projects. the board is great to help you.

Lavada 02-16-2012 06:05 AM

Glad I am not the only one! lol

callen 02-16-2012 07:51 AM

Yes, for sure, quilting is addictive but you could be addicted to a lot worse things than quilting !!!!!

urgodschild2 02-16-2012 09:08 AM

It is addicting. When I go to the fabric stores it is like looking at all the candy in the candy store. My eyes just feast over all the beautiful colors and my mind is racing over all the things I can make. Of course not in this lifetime. LOL
But I can give it a try. LOL. It is so calming, creative, joyful, etc. I love it.

caspharm 02-16-2012 09:44 AM

Definitely addicting, but as it's been said: "It's cheaper than therapy." :) Enjoy it! It's also healthier and more beneficial than most other addictions (smoking, drinking). You also get the benefit of a wonderful end product.

KimS 02-16-2012 09:47 AM

Yes it is! The way I look at it is everyone has to have something to do and ours just involves fabric and thread and scissors and patterns and rotary cutters and cutting mats and sewing machines and........LOL!! Welcome to the group! ;)

tngal22 02-16-2012 09:50 AM

Since my daughter is at MDO today, I tried to organize my sewing area a little better. It is not great but I have a small area but at least it looks better. After my snack break, I plan to organize my patterns. I have a big binder with all of them in page protectors. Need to finish putting them in there. I also moved all my UFO to one spot. I have a nice pile of squares for hubby's quilt. It is almost ready to start...once he gives me some DCUs to cut up. lol

dublb 02-16-2012 10:12 AM

Since you have UFO's won't you (or anyone else who wants to) join us for the UFO Challenge.

Thanks for reminding me. I had looked at the post a few weeks ago and forgot about it. Since the backing for the Jelly Roll Race quilt is coming in tomorrow, I might get to finish the quilt top I did last month.

dublb 02-16-2012 11:03 AM

Your Welcome!:)

Fabricnut 02-16-2012 03:25 PM

You can do a jelly roll race quilt in a day or at least the top. I did mine in 2 days because my back was hurting so bad from setting at the sewing machine so long. Yes I'm an addict too. I just totaled up my fabric and Long Arm quilting projects for 2011. I sure hope my hubby doesn't see the total. If I had drank that much in liquor or spent that much at the casino, he would have divorced me for sure.

There are no "mistakes", only "creative challenges".
