I agree, its your and do what you want with it. If you can't sell it would you consider donating to a charitable organization who could raffle it off for a fundraiser. Or, you could donate to a domestic violence shelter or women's shelter who could use use to keep the women they shelter warm in the winter. Let us know your decision.

I agree that you are free to do what you like with the quilt you won. I also like the idea of donating the quilt or doing another fundraiser.

I wondered, if you sell it, would the price that you get for it, say $600.00, be subject to income tax?

Just because you have a quilt on your bed does not mean you have to sleep under it. Roll it to the foot of the bed at night.

I finally managed to post two more pictures of the quilt on the picture board. Thanks for bearing with this computer dummy.

I would donate it back to them or to another group to re-raffle off.

There was a raffle at the rural Rescue Squad we were part of in North Carolina. It was for a donated Gun Safe. The gentlemen that won it said that his wife would never allow it in the house - she didn't allow guns in the house. So he donated it to the fire department he was a member of and they did a raffle themselves. The rescue squad had made almost a $1000 and the fire department made over $1500.

Once someone gives you something, it is yours! To use, give away or sell is your choice, not theirs. I feel the same way about winning something....it is yours, do as you wish with it; if you cannot use it why keep it? Someone else probably would be glad to buy it.

Congratulations on your win. It's your quilt - sell it.

It's me again. I forgot to give you the measurements. The quilt is 106" by 106". It has a hanging sleeve on the back of it so maybe someone could use it for a huge wallhanging.
As for paying taxes on the money I might make from selling it, I will have to look into that. As for just folding it up at the end of the bed, it is rather heavy.

Sell it but keep quiet about doing so.

I echo most of the other responses...it's yours to do with as you wish. The person you sell it to will love it and probably be able to use it. A quilt that beautiful deserves to be used and appreciated. You have "purchased" it by purchasing raffle tickets and I'm sure that the guild members wouldn't want it to be a burden to you or a hazard to your health!

I too would sell it if it doesn't match your decor. I too agree it's yours to do whatever you want with it :)
