I was just notified that I won a $10 gift certificate in the March fabshophop. Now I have to make a decision. The shop that gave the certificate to me mostly has pre-cuts.

So....my question is which do you think is most versatile to use? jelly roll, charm pack, or layer cake. I'm looking at the Moda Martinique layer cake. (they only carry Moda)

What would YOU choose?

I would go with a layer cake myself.

I too would take the bigger cuts.

I prefer layer cakes. And I love that Martinique fabric! I bought yardage of it at our last guild meeting from a vendor we had come in. Nice!

This is my second time to win the $10. I keep hoping for that perfect caddy!!

Tho' the layer cake would be more practical, I'm infatuated with charms.

Congrats on the win too!

Yay!! Isn't it fun?

I'd go with the layer cake although I am just collecting them myself right now. :) It gives you more options for later on. Congrats on winning. That is great!

mzsooz 06-01-2010 07:56 PM

Thanks everyone!! I think I'm going to get the layer cake. I've never used one and now would be a great opportunity.

quilt addict 06-01-2010 07:57 PM

I won too! I have yet to check out the shop so will see what I can do with $10. I know it is just a ploy because I could never get out of a shop just spending $10.

Congratulations

Congratulations!

I too won a $10 gift certificate from a shop called Stitch Simple - 1st I've heard of it. If I'm seeing correctly they only sell pre-cut & pre-washed kits or fabric by the piece with nothing larger than a fat quarter. It appears all the fabric is from Korea, Japan & India.
Anyone familiar with this shop?

Congratulations!!! So much fun!!

Congrats. The layer cake sounds great.

Today I received my package of fabric that I bought with the $10 I won on the fabshophop.

I know I said I was getting a layer cake but I ended up getting the Moda Martinique charm pack plus two fabrics to match. I'm going to make a tablerunner from a free pattern I downloaded off the internet called "Sugar Cookies". It will be a new technique for me as the pattern is made using hexagons.

I'm so excited to get started!! That fabric is gorgeous. My certificate was from the Cotton Charm Quilts. I'm so impressed how quickly they got my order to me. I think I'll be ordering more from them.

love the charm pk you selected! Can't wait to see your cookies pattern when done.
