ice cream cone border

Where do I start ??!! I purchased a set of 20 antique dresden plates. I now have them appliqued onto a block. I have decided I am going to stitch the blocks together without sashing and I would like to do an ice cream cone border. I am having a problem with the size. My blocks will finish at 15 inches each. Which will give me a 60 by 75 inch flimsy. The templates I am finding online for the ice cream cone seem small to me. Can anyone help me figure out what size ice cream cone I need?? Any suggestions will be very much appreciated !!:o

I think we don't have quite enough information in order to help you. What size are you expecting your quilt to finish including the borders? Are you sure you want the ice cream cones to be the size of the Dresden blades? Try using a piece of paper to draw several cones and see if any of the sizes will work for you.

Sometimes I use a Xerox machine to enlarge or reduce items.

See if Eleanor burns/quilt in a day site / video might help......?

What is an ice cream cone border? I'm familiar with piano keys but not ice cream cones.

I had an antique quilt that was made in the 1930's that had that border. I did sell it to a lady in Australia, when finances were tight but I never knew until I googled the name "ice cream cone border" that it was named that. Here is a picture of that quilt. I always loved the border but it looks like an awful lot of work.

Maybe it might not be the same but it is very close in my opinion.

That is such a beautiful border! I had never heard of ice cream cone border! It does look hard to make, for me anyway!
