I'd Appreciate Your Opinion ~

I'm needing 1" black and white striped fabric and cannot seem to find 100% cotton fabric. I have found 1" black and white striped poly cotton 60% poly 40% cotton.

My question is this striped fabric will be the center of two Moda Bella solid strips...will they 'play' well together? It's a novelty accent piece that will be the width of the quilt that is 70" wide. I'm inspired by "nana-up-north's / Jean's idea in the quilt she shared with us, she shared with me she'd found the striped fabric online but it seems the online store she found it is out of stock and every other store I've looked seems to be out of it too.

Since I can't seem to find the 1" stripe in my searches online. My only other option I believe is to make my own making 1.5" black and white strips then cutting my own. However, I would prefer the ease of using 1" striped fabric.

What is your opinion about using the poly/cotton blend? Or should I just bite the bullet and make my own striped fabric with the Moda Bella solids?

I'd go ahead and use the blend. However I would wash the 100% cotton fabrics to make sure they do not shrink. Poly blends do not shrink.

Have you seen this fabric here? That might work and it's 100% cotton!

It would not be hard to piece the black/white strip. Cut 1 and 1/2 inch black and white WOF strips of fabric. Make a strata of them however long you would need and then cross cut them into 1 and 1/2 inch strips. This will give you the inner strip and you can just sew the 2 black strips on both sides to form the film strip.

i'd use the poly/cotton

If the blend has a similar weight and feel to it as the regular cotton I would use it. I do like dakotamaid's suggestion of per washing the cotton fabrics though.

I think the one that Candy77 posted a link to would work - it looks to be about an inch. If not it wouldn't bother me at all to use the poly/cotton. Personally piecing it would be my last resort.
