I'd Like to See Your Handquilting

Do you have any close ups of your hand work? Nice curvy patterns, and different colors of thread. I am hoping for a wide variety of ideas for something that I am working on. Thanks so much.

I, primarily, use stencils...might combine them...lots of them available online.

Actually I wanted to see a picture of stitching. I can get stencils. I want to see the choices people make.

You are talking about hand stitching? I have been hand quilting for 40 years and the only way I know to do it is by using a running stitch. I load my needle up with as many stitches as possible and then pull it through and reload. I prefer a whole cloth quilt because it doesn't have all of those seams and applique to make the quilting more difficult. If I use a stencil I follow the lines it laid down. If there is applique I usually quilt about 1/8 inch around each applique and the possible layered pieces it may be create from. I only machine quilt the Linus blankets I make. All of the quilts I have made for myself are hand quilted. Even the ones I use for throws on my living room sofa and chairs. The queen size ones I use as bedspreads on my own bed are also entirely hand quilted. They have all been through the wash several times. My stitching always holds up. I don't have any pictures.

This has been posted many times before. The eyes in the dragon and the pupil of the tiger were done by just going over the same place over and over again, almost like embroidery. I used a Roxanne #11 needle and Valdani 30 (may have been 35) weight cotton thread in a variegated yellow.

i keep a project going that i can use to help loosen up stiffness in my very arthritic hands & fingers before i work on something special. i have also always been reminded of embroidery when quilting. so, i started playing w using sharply contrasting thread color. here's a pic of current practice piece. i can't seem to get the size right using my ipad...either too big or too small. hope this is ok ....
