That is so cool.
I think I would use a dark colour as well and match the binding to it. Too much going on on the outside might detract from the main event, although QuilterPurpleDog's idea is really fun, too.

I agree. I was thinking maybe even a brown would pull from your tree trunks. Great job and it looks like it was a fun project.

Totally agree with Tartan's suggestion of a dark frame and stitch in the ditch so you don't detract from the designs. Love your choices of fabrics! My first thought was the nursery rhyme, This is the house that Jack built but then maybe There was a crooked man who built a crooked house. This is darling. Thanks for sharing!

Is the bicycle fussy-cut? Your embellishments are perfect for this quilt.

What a great quilt! You have to be very pleased with it!! It is a joy to look at. (No new suggestions....you have good ones already....)

I like Tartan's suggestion of putting a frame around it. I had the same issue with my Bunny avatar quilt so I used two contrasting batiks and mitered the corners. Then I added a "brass name plate" like they do in art galleries. (I'm posting it here because the avatar doesn't show the sides) Since yours is also a mini-quilt, you really could make it look like a work of art. I love it!

Some really great ideas thanks everyone. I'm going to look in the fabric shop tomorrow.
Illinois - yes the bicycles are fussy cut from some darling fabric I found
Artsyone - your bunny quilt is gorgeous! Is it hand painted?

Love, love, love. Truly the cutest wall hanging I've seen in a long time. You've done a beautiful job with the colors. Please post pic when you are finished.

I'm thinking a very narrow black (1/2" finished) for the sashing and a 1-inch border to encase the quilt as it is beautiful. Then another border with one of the quilt colors. The black (or very dark fabric sash and border) will frame the quilt (as a photo).

Very nice quilt. How did you ever do those bicycles? I think a brown batik would be a good border.
