This year for the upcoming holidays (and after, too) I am planning to make quilts for the Linus Project in lieu of an "extra" gift for my [grown] children. While I have some ideas like a simple nine patch, rail fence, etc., I am wondering if anyone has any other ideas which would be quick, yet still special. I appreciate any thoughts you might have!

what a great idea! How about a nine patch where all are the same color except the center. I don't know what you call it. Each block has different colors. It looks neat. something like the picture but simpler.

I have done many 4 patch blocks for my hospital baby quilts. They are easy to do, work up quickly and you can use the same colors or make each block different. I hope that this helps.

I like to do simple patterns with bigger pieces for the kids to enjoy. So I use HST mixed with squares.

Warm Wishes is a great quilt to do. And easy too, and looks really nice.

Patricia Pepe's X blocks are easy nine patch or less, that look difficult and interesting. So are the pinwheels made with Big Twister or Little Twister templates.

I believe that Project Linus has a web site and have free patterns available for you to use if you like. You might also check the Google and search for easy baby quilt patterns. There are lots available from different sites. Hope this helps and this is a wonderful idea to help others in need.
