My God Son is getting married and I would like to make a quilt for him. It has to be beginner friendly. I am a beginner , maybe advanced beginner. He likes earthy colors. Any ideas ?

Warm Wishes is a free pattern at McCall quilting.

Eleanor Burns Lovers Knot is a strip piecing pattern.

Both of these are easy.

Many of Eleanor Burns' patterns are beautiful and beginner or advanced beginner friendly because she gives such wonderful, complete directions.

Eleanor burns is a good suggestion a Trip around the world quilt would be very attractive in earth tones and has the added punch of looking much more complicated than it is. Impresses the recipient with the effort made on their behalf, but is just challenging enough to stretch a confident beginner and enjoyable.

I just finished a square in a square 2 for a wedding gift. It's a free pattern on quilterscache. It was loved by bride and groom. It's easy but doesn't look like it was.:-)
