Ideas for sussies
Hello fellow quilters, I am from Louisiana and my quilting bee has a Christmas party every year and people make such great sussies for everyone. I was hoping to get some ideas from people all over for sussies, so I can start making them for this Christmas. I hope I get ideas of something that no one in my bee has made. I have only been in the bee 2 years and would like to impress them. Thanks in advance for any and all ideas. Happy Quilting

I have no idea what a sussie is.

What is a "sussie"? Never heard the term.

According to Google search, "It was intended to mean a small gift or treat, but, more importantly, it is a small gift given for no particular reason."

A little something you make or buy--that I would to do(something related to quilting).

This idea came from another QB member at least a year or so ago. It may be in the archives but here's a quick detail....
Bobbin minders: Made from clear flexible tubing....look in plumbing at Home Depot/Lowe's/etc. Get a diameter that will fit over a full bobbin. With a sharp craft knife or box cutter cut tubing into 1/4" slices, or just wide enough to fit the depth of the bobbin. Cut each slice open so you have a little "C" shape.....since it's flexible it will fit over the thread on your bobbin. Package up 5 or 10 of them in a cute little Christmas-y bag or box and you're all set. |
Gift/Surprise, I'm guessing. I always thought a sussie was a pacifier or wimp! Live and learn.
|
I use toe separators to hold my bobbins. I decorate them w/sequins and ribbons and string a ribbon through them to hang on the wall by my thread holder.

That tubing idea is fantastic!

I hosted our guild Christmas Party at my home 2011. I made each member(20) a mug rug in seasonal fabric and coffee cozies. Put them in small Christmas boxes, tied with red ribbon. They were quite a hit.
