I received a Land of Nod catalog recently and saw these ideas for using doiles. For those of you who have lots of doilies, this could be really cute....http://www.landofnod.com/kids-girl-b...-bedding/f7986 . Happy Sewing!

Thanks for the idea!! I have so many doiles from my great grandmother that I do not know what to do with.

I hope somebody does something like this and shows us some pictures! People are so creative I know it would be awesome.

I made sweatshirts with some. I think that was back in the 80's.

Wow - I have to look into this, I've got a TON of old linens and hand-tatted and crocheted doilies -they're so beautiful, but I only have so many surfaces to put them on! I'd love to do this...

What a great idea :D:D:D

First time posting :o)
I have a couple of quilting patterns that call for battenburg doilies and remember buying some years ago. They came in different shapes. I'm looking for something round about 6". Has anyone seen any in their travels perhaps dollar type stores? I've been reading the board for quite a while and decided to join the fun. |
Welcome to the board Chester! I think I know what type of doilies you are talking about, but sorry, I don't know where you can get a bunch.
|
Thank you Foxflower.
The pattern that I have instructs to cut the doilie in quarters and stitch them onto denim squares like you would a fan block. You get 4 blocks per doilie, set them on point and you have yourself a fancy denim quilt. Carole |
I had a bunch of all sizes doilies I had been collecting and I ended up putting them on denim. Colors varied a little bit..white to off white....but it turned out pretty nice.
|
I can see how that would be pretty cute....lace and denim.
