Ideas wanted - Christmas ornaments(??) from 2-1/2 strips

I've been working on turning a bunch of my late Grandmother's dresses into quilts to give to my aunts and uncles and it looks I am going to have lots of 2-1/2" strips left over after making all of the quilts.

I thought it might be nice to turn those leftovers into Christmas ornaments that I could give out to my cousins. The colors from her dresses aren't particularly "Christmasy" but I think they'll be appreciated anyway.

Anybody have any ideas I could use for this? The simpler the better, so I'll have time to make enough for everyone!

Or other similar ideas? Something small and simple that can be made from a mix of 2-1/2 strips that would appeal to people of all sorts of ages and genders. (I have LOTS of cousins!)

If you make them into small fabric frames then a picture could be put into the middle for the tree. My favorite way of remembering those that have passed.

I like the folded star ornament. I think it can be made on a flat surface, too, but it looks so difficult, but really isn't.

Make any quilt block pattern you wish .... just small sized, so you can hang it on the tree!

The folded star ornament takes a little time, but is well worth the effort. I have made many of them. All you need is a 3" styrofoam ball and 2 1/2" squares. Oh, of course, a big box of straight pins. :o)

These look great! Thanks for the links. I took a quick look - will have to look more when I'm not cheating and playing around online at work. LOL

how about the ball where you cut 2 1/2" sqs and stuff them into the Styrofoam ball with glusde. they come out nice and are quick to do. even kids can do it.

this is what I was going to suggest. They're quick, easy and look really neat.
