I agree with ArtsyOne - thread is always appreciated. And I've always meant to make myself one of those weighted pin cushions/thread scrap bags that Tartan mentioned. I've just never gotten around to it. Some other really good ideas here too.

I have a pair of sheers with a spring on them and they are made for rag quilt cutting the edges. They are not so hard on your hands.

The dollar trees have those for a $1. I bought one months ago and find I use it all the time. Good idea. Thanks for your help.

A telescoping magnet from a hardware or auto store. When extended it looks like an old fashioned car antennae. You can use it to pick up pins and needles without getting down on your hands and knees. I love mine.

I agree, you can' hardly go wrong with a gift certificate. I already done that. Problem is she loves "stuff"!

make her a pin cushion using a pretty cup or shoe, go to the goodwill and what you can find that's cool. Lots of idea on the web...
