If I post here, will I still be able to submit to a mag?

I have an easy fun pot holder- hot pad that is great for a holiday hostess gift. If I post pictures and instructions here, can I still submit them to a magazine for publishing next year for the holiday issue??

I think you would need to check with the magazine on their specific requirements.

Guess that would depend on what the magazine;s policies are

I have submitted to a magazine and they wanted it to not be previously published. Is QB considered already published? I don't know but I held off posting but they never contacted me anyway after they received my jpg. Hope you have better luck.

Generally, yes, shared on the internet is considered to be published.

Magazines only want unpublished material. Don't post here if you are planning to submit it.

It could take several years for a magazine to publish your pattern, then they own the copyright for it for a certain amount of time. The few published designers I know design patterns just for magazines that they do not plan on selling to shops or use an old pattern that is not being reordered.

Thanks everyone this is such a simple pattern that maybe it doesn't make the cut for publication.

Well, if that's the case why not share it with us?
