I have made a couple of baby girl quilts, all in various shades of pink, & what I did was just make a bunch of all different blocks I liked, then put them on my quilt wall, added strips, squares, whatever, here & there, to make it all square up into a nice size quilt, then ta da! Add borders, quilted it, did whatever else I wanted, & it was done! Ended up giving the one like this to my youngest step grandaughter, & she loves pink, so that worked out well!

I made a butterfly (pieced) quilt for a great-grandbaby this past year. It was mostly pink and purple with splashes of blue, red, and a little bit of green. Very pretty. On the other hand, I have a great-grandchild whose parents are very into the outdoors and for this one I made a very large inch worm quilt which was mostly green. I also did this one this past year. In fact, we had six new great-grandchildren last year and I made a quilt for each one.

A scrapy quilt using prints in shades of pink and lavender. I used pyramid style blocks once and it looked nice especially using a darker pink border which pops the pinks blocks.
A cat or dog(which ever she likes)quilt and they can be made in colors of pink. Sally |

I have two grandaughters and their personalities are completely different so their style preferences are also different. I try to make quilts to reflect their personality. What colour is their room painted? What colours do they like to wear? Perhaps a pastel pink/purple would suit them or maybe a vibrant colour would be better. I think you have to look at the whole picture rather than gender.
